Hairstyles
We all know that hairstyle is a very important part of one’s image. It can tell a lot of things about the person in question. This isn’t something new, in fact in the past it was a tradition to send messages about the person or his or her life.
In the past it was a tradition in Africa that the braids people had told something about them to those around them. For example the braids could tell whether the person in question is married or not, if he was a good warrior in the case of men or she was a good housewife in the case of women. The braids could also tell which tribe the person belonged to. I think that these information were very important at that time because they were essential in one’s life, these were the key features.
I am sure that you have seen pictures or movies presenting French aristocrats wearing those interesting hairstyles that seem to be outrageous according to today’s conventions. At that time hairstyle represented a person’s social status. They believed that the taller the hairstyle was, the higher his or her position was.
In our times hairstyles have a very different meaning. In fact we could say that it doesn’t have any meaning at all, but still it is an indicator of one’s image. There are many hairstyles that suggest very clear information about the person. For example a very easily recognizable hairstyle is the punk style. I don’t think that there is one person in the world, who wouldn’t recognize a punker based on his or her hairstyle. This is true in the case of rockers as well.
At this point we can say that hairstyle might show the style of the person that can be influenced by the music genre he or she prefers. In other cases when the hairstyle isn’t as specific we can’t really say anything about the person’s style, but it might indicate other things. For example if somebody has a nice hairstyle that is taken care of we can know that the person in question is tidy or neat and he or she takes care of the image others perceive about him or her.
Hairstyle has some key characteristics: color and haircut. Some people say that blonde women are stupid and they make fun of them. On the other hand it is said that blondes have more fun. The truth is that hair color as nothing to do with such things; in fact it’s just another characteristic that shows the person’s preferences.
Haircut can send some messages as well. Based on the hairstyle somebody has we can tell whether the person in question is sporty or not, whether he or she likes more elegant styles or the more leisure ones. In conclusion the hairstyles we have might tell a lot about us and I think that it is better to have a style that sends a message rather than one that says absolutely nothing, that doesn’t have any personality.
