Bobbed Hairstyle
I am absolutely sure that you have heard about bobbed hairstyles even if you didn’t know their name. This hairstyle means that the hair is cut straight and the length is shorter than shoulder length. Most professionals decide the length according to the position of the ears, but they can cut the hair as long as you wish.
This far I haven’t said many new things, but I think that you didn’t know about the fact that women had bobbed hairstyles even in the second century. I guess you noticed that history repeats itself and trends become fashionable again from time to time. This is true in the case of hair as well.
Roman paintings dating back to the second century present women with such hairstyles suggesting that it was very fashionable. It is said that women were trying to imitate the hairstyle of Emperor Titus. In that period long hair was fashionable but because of the war women working with wounded people cut their hair because it was easier to work this way and it was also more hygienic. Short after other women had the hairstyle as well, simply because they liked it.
It is said that in 1918 a ballroom dancer called Vernon Castle introduced the hairstyle in America making the ’Castle Bob’ (’Dutch’ or ’Page’ Bob) famous. Shortly after the comedienne Ina Claire got a bobbed hairstyle that has been successfully copied by many women in that time.
After another period when long hair ruled women realized how important it was to get an individualized haircut and this fact might have been the most important factor of bringing to life many hairstyles we know today and diverging from the standard bobbed hairstyle.
In most of the cases when somebody has long hair for a long period of time, at one point she will return to some kind of bobbed hairstyle and she will find it a lot more comfortable to wear and a lot easier to maintain. In our days there aren’t really standardized hairstyles; most of the hairstylists create the style according to the physical features and the expectations of the customer.
I think that it is a nice experience to get a bobbed hairstyle because no matter what hairstyle you had before, for sure it will be a change. My personal opinion is that it is good to try the most hairstyles possible to gain experience, to find out which ones look better on you and the best is too all these things while you are young because in this period hair grows quite fast and you can change the style more often than when you are older. This doesn’t mean that when you get older you must have the same haircut again and again.
