African American Prom Hairstyles

Every year when they announce that prom will take place, every girl automatically thinks about what to wear, how to do their hear, who to go with and many other details that make the night of the prom perfect. In this article I won’t write about all of these things, just about African American prom hairstyles. I think this is an interesting topic, since it concerns many people.

Naturally not only the girls who want to take part, but usually their friends and parents too. Mothers always want to help their daughters to look their best so they are giving them a lot of advice. It’s up to the girls to choose whether to take the advice or not.

There are some hairstyles that you can do on your own if you choose not to go to a hair salon. I believe that the simplest of them all is to wear a natural hairstyle. Most African American people have strong, curly hair, so why not take advantage of it? You can leave your hair as it is, waving down your shoulders, in case you have long hair. Of course you can tie it in a ponytail style, or just a part of it. I would advise you to use some accessories as well to make the hairstyle look more elegant. Flowers are a popular choice of accessories to wear on the night of the prom.

If you would like something more special that you can do on your own, then probably one of the most suitable solutions is to simply iron your hair and at the end spray it with shine spray. You may say that this style wasn’t really invented for such a big day like prom, but you might be wrong.

This style can be worn anywhere, anytime. You can make the style more interesting if you iron your hair and then at chin length you twist it around the iron to create curls. When the hair has cooled down, brush through with your fingers to give your hair more volume. You could also twist all of your hair around the iron and create longer curls. Usually these curls are a little bit more sophisticated then the natural ones.

You could also try to make buns, twists or other op-dos that are more elaborate, but be sure that you choose something that you will be able to do and practice it before the big evening, so you won’t have to rush.

Rush may ruin everything, it can make you nervous and give you a feeling that everything might go wrong, a sense of insecurity. It is very important to remember that in order to achieve good results it is better to wash your hair one day before the event. This way it is easier to style it. If you must wash it on the day of the prom be sure to use some gel or styling mousse, otherwise it is very hard to create the perfect African American prom hairstyle.
